Aftercare

Aftercare refers to the care of your pet’s body following the home euthanasia visit. There are both cremation and burial options that you may consider:

• Memorial Cremation - If you do not wish for your pet’s ashes back, you will choose Memorial Cremation. Your pet will be respectfully cremated at Trusted Journey in Plainfield and ashes will be spread on their grounds. An outdoor memorial area, for which families will be able to spend time and walk, is currently in progress.

• Private Cremation - If you would like to have your pet’s ashes saved for you, you will choose Private Cremation. Your pet will be cremated individually/privately (alone) at Trusted Journey in Plainfield and resultant ashes will be placed in an urn. There are five urn options at no additional charge (see photo below) as well as several other urn options for additional fee . Urns/ashes and any memorial items will be shipped to your home (signature required upon delivery.) You may also chose to pick up your pet’s ashes directly from the crematorium located at 25613 W U.S. Hwy 30, Plainfield, IL 60585. You may easily transfer ashes from any urn to another urn of your choosing at any point in time.

• Home Burial - You may choose to lay your pet to rest at home. Please check local ordinances as there may be serious fines for illegal burial and serious consequences to wildlife for improper burial.

• Using Other Crematorium of Your Choosing - Should you wish to use a crematorium other than Trusted Journey Pet Memorial Services in Plainfield, you may do so. We can still provide home euthanasia services and advise on how to transport your pet for cremation.

• Deceased Pet Care + Transport - For those pets who may have passed on their own at home, we come to your home to respectfully and lovingly transport your pet for one of the above cremation services with Trusted Journey Pet Memorial Services. We are here to offer support and care when you need it most.
